CURRICULUM VITAE
Andrzej Łuszczkiewicz graduated as a M.Sc. in mineral processing from Silesian Technical University, Department of Mineral Processing, Gliwice, Poland, in 1969. Next, he joined the Mineral Processing Research and Teaching Group at the Wroclaw University of Technology, Institute of Inorganic Chemistry and Metallurgy of Rare Elements. In 1982 he became a head of the Division of Mineral Processing of the Institute of Mining Engineering, Wroclaw University of Technology and this function he holds with short breaks for today. In the beginning of his career he had spent two years with the Copper Mining and Metallurgical Complex in Lubin, Poland as a process engineer. From that time he conducts broad cooperation with the Polish copper industry. His research activities are also associated with various mineral resources of Lower Silesia such as clay, feldspar, gold-bearing, etc. raw materials. He is an author or coauthor of special technologies of beneficiation of titanium, rare earth, gold and copper ores. Between 2004 and 2007 he participated, with dozens of European partners, in European 6-th Framework Programme "Bioshale" (Search for a Sustainable Way of Exploiting Black Shale Ores Using Biotechnologies) coordinated by Bureau de Recherches Géologiques et Minieres - BRGM (Orleans, France).
His main interests lie in the processing of heavy minerals-bearing raw materials with emphasis on rare-earth, titanium and zirconium minerals, flotation of sulfide and non-sulfide minerals, beneficiation of noble metals from various type of ores, separation of dispersed and trace components from mineral raw materials, coal preparation, principles of processing of titanium and rare-earth ores, and evaluation of ore beneficiation results based on laboratory tests as well as plant operations.
