The laboratory is well equipped with basic laboratory equipment needed to investigate flotation, magnetic, electric and gravity separation processes, which in many aspects are unique in the country. The laboratory is equipped with: various type of flotation machines (mechanical, column and injector), gravity concentrator (Knelson Concentrator, concentrator table) and magnetic separators (Frantz Isodynamic Separator) and other specialist equipment.

The Department specializes in the field of enrichment of mineral resources, as well as semi-products and wastes by means of flotation, magnetic, electrostatic and gravity separations, selective coagulation, flocculation, oil agglomeration and other special methods.

Workers at the laboratory specialize in selection and optimization of flotation reagent consumption and development of the foundations of technology. We conduct analysis of industrial systems, in particular optimization of system parameters which determine the direction and the effects of their modernization and quality control of products of processing of minerals. We have an expertise on existing and proposed technology of treatment of mineral resources, especially comminution, sieving, classification and upgrading as well as hydrometallurgical processes. We carry out a research on possibility of utilization of solid industrial wastes together with an assessment of the environmental effects of their use and many other study.
